Ferryland receives a giant iceberg 50ft higher than the one which sank the Titanic

The small town of Ferryland, Canada has been packed with tourists when an enormous iceberg has floated into ‘iceberg alley’. Iceberg alley has given the name to Canada’s east coast by Newfoundland and Labrador as they receive a large number of 10,000-year-old glaciers which come in from the arctic every Spring. Photographers have flocked to the town causing traffic jam along the Southern Shore highway over the Easter weekend to get their perfect shot.

While mostly icebergs just float away, this giant berg has grounded itself into the shallow water. This has definitely caused the town to receive more tourists helping them do better business and the Mayor is not complaining ‘It’s a huge iceberg and it’s in so close that people can get a good photograph of it.’

The ice- berg seems to be the biggest that people have seen, a whopping 150 ft high which is 50 ft higher than the one which caused the Titanic tragedy in 1912.616 icebergs have floated into the shipping lanes this year while 687 did in 2016. Because of global warming and strong anti- clockwise winds have led to the breaking off of Greenland ice sheets at a faster pace causing huge icebergs to float away.
