Gau Rakshak gang kills dairy farmer mistaking him to be a cattle smuggler



55 year old Pehlu Khan wanted to purchase a milch buffalo so as to increase the production of milk during Ramazan. He however, bought a milch cow instead.Khan and his sons Irshad and Aarif were attacked by Gau Rakshaks when while they were traveling in a minivan. They were on National Highway 8 in Behror area of Alwar on Saturday evening when the Rakshaks dragged them out of the minivan and hit them with sticks and belts. They were found unconscious by the police half hour later. Khan was beaten to death.

Rajasthan’s Home Minister Gulab Chan Kataria has described the attackers as Gau Bhakts who protect cows, blaming the victims themselves. Even the Centre has denied this happening. If the government has launched measures to control illegal meat selling, then there are proper steps which are to follow. No group of vigilantes can beat up people for any reason whatsoever. The government should take necessary actions about the same and the culprits in this situation should be punished.
